Introduction

Birds are a popular pet. They are known for their unique flying ability. They are beautiful animals to look at and marvel at their elegance making them great pets.

Care

Birds need a spacious cage to fly around in. A common rule is that the width should be at least twice their wingspan. The bars on the cage should be appropriately sized for your species to ensure they don’t escape. There should be perches and toys in the cage to enrich their environment. Birds primary eat pellets in captivity but fruits, vegetables, and seeds can be given in moderation. Their cage needs to be regularly cleaned for feces to keep it clean.

Personality

Birds have distinct personalities that range from bold to shy. Birds can form bonds with their owners with time once they associate them with safety and provision. They are smart with complex brains. Some species can even repeat phrases spoken by humans much to the amazement of their owners.

Cost

The cost of birds varies depending on the species you buy. Small birds could cost only $20 while large or rare species can cost in the thousands. They will need a cage that may cost anywhere from $50-$1,000 dollars depending on the size. Food will cost somewhere between $10-$50 a month. In addition, birds need water and food dishes, toys, and grooming tools. Vet checkups will also add to the cost.
